01/16/2004 - IPOWER acquires a 17,000 square foot data center facility
January 16, 2004 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Web hosting provider IPOWER (ipower.com) has acquired a 17,000 square foot data center facility in Phoenix, Arizona, the company announced Thursday.
The new facility, IPOWER said, offers fully redundant backup power, multi-homed bandwidth providers and a network operations center.
IPOWER said it acquired the facility in order to support the company's rapid growth.
We chose Phoenix because of its lack of natural disasters, business friendly climate, and large technically savvy workforce" said Thomas Gorny, CEO and president of IPOWER. "The increased data center space will support our growth in both the hosting market and support operations."
The Phoenix data center, which formerly housed a state agency, is the company's fourth and its largest. It is also the company's first wholly owned facility.
The company's three other data centers are located in the Southern California area.
