For Nathalie van Eeckhoudt, cosmetics have always been a way of life. In her early years, she followed with her mother Tina around Europe working in the field of beauty and learning from the pure science used at European spas and beauty centers. Later, she became a certified dermo-hygienist and cosmetologist with an extensive background in the science of Phyto Aroma, which focuses on the extracts and essences of botanical origins and their aromatic values. It is from this research that she formed IntelCosmet, where her products are now reaching around the world thanks in part to her web site, www.intelcosmet.com.

IntelCosmet, Inc., which offers an all-natural skincare line, was founded by van Eeckhoudt in 2000. The company is based in Montreal, Quebec. So, in order to capitalize on local and international markets, the entire site can be read in both French and English. This is a pretty amazing feat, considering how much information about the company’s products and services can be found on the web site. This way, customers can become very informed about the company and what they offer before making any decisions.

The web site has various features for the user, including web chat features and video-based product demos. However, the most valuable part of the web site could arguably be the online store section, which not only features IntelCosmet’s products, but includes detailed explanations on what the products are and how they work. There is also an area on the pages for customer reviews and examples of additional products a user may like based on other customer purchases.

What helps the site to be so rich in content is its content management system (CMS). “With our CMS, we have the ability to make changes on the fly without interruption of service, which at times from a user experience can be a surprise when returning to a link and see something new,” says Gary Murk, V.P. of IntelCosmet. “With IPOWER, the system was easy to plug in and we didn’t have to pull the site down to do it.”

The CMS system also allows the company to support many different technologies including its online e-commerce store, which is being upgraded with new looks and features. The rebuilding of the e-commerce tool will ultimately result in a smoother shopping experience for the user. “Another great advantage to hosting with IPOWER and the package we have, [is that] the space and features allow us to co-develop and integrate with ease to obtain the desired results,” says Murk.

Since it easier to add fresh content to the site with greater frequency, the site has also become more desirable to the search engines. In fact, the site has been ranked as high as #3 under the search term “phyto aroma” and #1 under “intelligent cosmetics.”
